Have you ever had trouble seeing your marine electronics, handheld or other device when wearing polarized sunglasses? This can occur when the glass covering the display is not aligned properly causing light frequencies to be blocked when viewed with polarized sunglasses.

The situation above can be frustrating but can be resolved by the use of a laminate that reorients the light frequencies. To test if your situation can be resolved, turn the sunglasses 90 degrees and observe if the screen becomes visible.

In the example, above, turning the glasses 90 degrees results in a correct alignment and a visible screen. You may try other alignments to see if the screen becomes visible. I am pretty sure you don't want to cock your head sideways to view your screen. The solution is to find a polarized or glare reducing film that reorients the light waves. These are often advertised as screen protectors that reduce glare but may not say polarized. A product that has no tinting is ideal. I experimented with several examples I found online by placing the product over the device and with my polarized glasses on (Costas), oriented the screen until the display became visible. For the device shown above, the following camera product worked great.

Screen protector products appear to be the best choice because they come in a variety of sizes, include cleaning tissues and are purpose built to adhere and protect device screens.
Success! After attaching, the device screen is now visible with my polarized glasses.
